Sonatel Orange Achieves 99% Coverage in Senegal with New Satellite Internet Offerings
Combined with existing fibre optics, 4G, and 5G networks, this satellite deployment enables Orange to cover 99% of Senegal, ensuring comprehensive connectivity even in remote and rural areas.
Sonatel Orange has announced the launch of Senegal’s first satellite internet offers, marking a significant step in the country’s digital transformation. The new service, introduced in partnership with Eutelsat/Konnect, provides unlimited high-speed internet to households and professionals across the country. Combined with existing fibre optics, 4G, and 5G networks, this satellite deployment enables Orange to cover 99% of Senegal, ensuring comprehensive connectivity even in remote and rural areas.
The satellite service is immediately available and installed by local teams, providing a flexible and efficient solution to complex connectivity challenges. This initiative reinforces Senegal’s technological sovereignty and highlights the capacity to rely on local infrastructure and expertise to meet the nation’s digital needs.
In alignment with the Senegal Horizon 2050 Plan, Orange has committed to deploying one million additional fibre optic sockets between 2026 and 2028. By the end of 2028, the company will have installed nearly two million optical sockets nationwide. Initial deployments in December 2025 have already been completed in strategic and often isolated localities such as Moudery, Sare Bidji, Ndiedieng, Ogo, and Koungheul, with more areas scheduled for connectivity in the coming weeks.
Orange’s strategy emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring that high-speed internet access is not limited to urban centers but extended to all regions and citizens. The company is also positioning itself as a key partner for the digitalization of state services, supporting education and healthcare institutions, secure interconnection for government services, and facilitating free access to essential public digital services for citizens.
Through these initiatives, Orange strengthens its role as a technological foundation for Senegal’s national development, combining infrastructure, expertise, and local presence to advance the country’s digital agenda and support long-term societal transformation.
