The collaboration demonstrates how targeted government support combined with global expertise can foster a scalable, sustainable, and high-impact startup ecosystem in Egypt, turning talent into globally competitive companies.

Egypt’s technology startup ecosystem is entering a more mature phase, driven by rising founder ambition and the growth of institutional partnerships. Central to this evolution is a three-year collaboration between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)  and global venture capital firm 500 Global,  which has helped create a performance-driven, connected environment for tech entrepreneurship.

The partnership has focused on supporting local and international IT companies, expanding digital services, offshoring exports, and nurturing startups as a key driver of sustainable innovation. A flagship initiative, the Bootcamp for Accelerator Managers (BAM), has transferred 500 Global’s expertise in accelerator management to Egypt’s ecosystem, impacting over 125 accelerator managers from 55 accelerators nationwide. Assessments show significant improvements in leadership, strategy, and program quality, with measurable operational and economic impact.

Over the past three years, the collaboration has supported 197 startups and more than 380 founders through Seed Bootcamp and Scale Up programs. These startups collectively attracted $6 million in direct investment during the programs, raised over $54 million in follow-on funding, generated 1,300+ jobs, and achieved multiple successful exits. Success stories span sectors including AI, fintech, and digital services, with startups like Rahet Bally, ILLA, Dayra, and Khazenly achieving regional and international expansion.

Looking ahead, the partnership will emphasize deep-tech, particularly AI, as well as specialized programs to improve investment readiness and support international growth. ITIDA’s Creativa Innovation Hubs will continue to promote decentralized entrepreneurship, unlocking innovation driven by local challenges while targeting global market potential.
