The plan outlines the allocation of frequency bands for a wide range of radio communication services across the country and sets the framework for the management and use of the national radio frequency spectrum.

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA)  has officially published the Malawi National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025 Edition, which is now available for public inspection. The plan outlines the allocation of frequency bands for a wide range of radio communication services across the country and sets the framework for the management and use of the national radio frequency spectrum.

The 2025 edition of the plan aligns with Sections 81 and 83 of the Communications Act (Cap 68:01) as well as Article 5 of the ITU Radio Regulations. It makes clear that no person or organization is permitted to use the radio frequency spectrum in Malawi in a manner that contravenes the rules and allocations set out in the plan.

MACRA has made the plan publicly accessible for stakeholders and interested parties. Copies of the National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025 Edition are attached to the official notice and can also be accessed online via MACRA’s website.

This publication marks a key step in strengthening Malawi’s communications sector and ensuring effective, transparent management of the radio frequency spectrum.
