The funding will support the acceleration of SORA Technology’s satellite-, drone-, and AI-powered initiatives aimed at addressing major global public health and environmental challenges.

SORA Technology Co., Ltd.,  a Japan-based frontier technology startup focused on tackling infectious diseases and climate change, has raised approximately JPY 400 million (about USD 2.5 million) following the second close of its late seed funding round in November 2025. Headquartered in Nagoya, the company welcomed new investors Daiwa House Group Investment Limited Partnership, Central Japan Innovative Research Fund I, and UNERI Capital Fund Series 1, alongside existing shareholders. The funding will support the acceleration of SORA Technology’s satellite-, drone-, and AI-powered initiatives aimed at addressing major global public health and environmental challenges.

The company is addressing urgent global health issues such as malaria, which affects over 200 million people annually and causes an estimated 600,000 deaths worldwide, primarily in Africa. SORA Technology develops data-driven malaria control solutions and infectious disease prediction platforms using advanced satellite imagery, drones, and artificial intelligence to improve monitoring, prevention, and response strategies.

SORA Technology has already deployed its solutions across more than 10 African countries, including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Benin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Kenya, and Mozambique. These efforts are largely implemented in the public sector through partnerships with international organizations, national and local governments, universities, and research institutions. Notably, the company recently launched a new initiative in Mozambique in collaboration with Unitaid and the World Health Organization, expanding its impact within globally coordinated public health frameworks.

Beyond public health, the company’s technologies are being applied across environmental monitoring, mining, and agriculture. In mining, satellite-based solutions enable continuous, wide-area monitoring of environmental risks and surface changes, supporting ESG compliance and risk management. In agriculture, SORA Technology uses spraying drones and data analytics to improve productivity, reduce environmental impact, and support carbon credit generation initiatives in both Japan and Africa.

With continued investment in satellite data analytics and integrated drone-satellite systems, SORA Technology aims to strengthen its operational capabilities and scale its solutions globally. The company plans to expand its role in building sustainable social infrastructure across infectious disease control, environmental monitoring, agriculture, and natural resource management, contributing to the resolution of critical global challenges worldwide.
