Uganda’s Ministry of ICT Hands Over 176 Laptops to Local Government Communicators

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging digital transformation to improve governance, transparency, and communication between public institutions and citizens across the country.

The Ministry of ICT & National Guidance  has handed over 176 laptops to Local Government Communicators across Uganda, reinforcing government efforts to enhance information dissemination and citizen engagement nationwide. The handover took place during an engagement organized by the Ministry of Local Government.

The laptops are intended to equip Local Government Communicators with modern digital tools that will enable the timely, accurate, and effective sharing of government information at the district level. The initiative aims to strengthen public awareness, improve access to official information, and promote active citizen participation in government programs and policies.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, PhD, CISA®, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, emphasized the importance of empowering frontline communicators with digital resources. She noted that access to reliable technology helps bridge information gaps and ensures that citizens in every district remain informed and engaged in national development initiatives.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging digital transformation to improve governance, transparency, and communication between public institutions and citizens across the country.
