The conference emphasized the critical role of resilient infrastructure in national development, with a particular focus on telecommunications and digital connectivity.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MoPT)  has lauded President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. for his visionary leadership during the opening of the National Infrastructure Conference in Gompa City, Nimba County on January 19. The conference emphasized the critical role of resilient infrastructure in national development, with a particular focus on telecommunications and digital connectivity.

President Boakai stressed the importance of quality, long-term infrastructure investments, drawing parallels between robust physical infrastructure and economic growth. He highlighted that telecommunications networks, broadband access, and digital systems are pivotal for e-commerce, education, governance, and inclusive development in Liberia.

Aligned with the ARREST Agenda, Africa’s Agenda 2063, and the Sustainable Development Goals, the conference addressed challenges including unreliable electricity, decaying public assets, and fragmented digital infrastructure that has hindered connectivity and economic progress. The President called for innovative, coordinated solutions leveraging modern technology to rebuild Liberia’s infrastructure sustainably.

The MoPT reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing broadband coverage, ICT innovations, postal services, and climate-resilient networks to support job creation, equitable access, and national cohesion. The Ministry emphasized that telecommunications infrastructure serves as a backbone for economic transformation, national integration, and post-conflict recovery, ensuring all Liberians benefit from the country’s development.

By participating in the conference, the MoPT underscored its dedication to collaborative infrastructure planning and human-centered development, aiming to secure Liberia’s digital and economic future.
