Nigeria Gets First-of-Its-Kind AI Teaching Platform as Ogun Launches OgunLearn

January 22, 2026

Speaking at the event, Governor Abiodun said OgunLearn is designed to provide students with comprehensive lesson resources and interactive learning support, while enabling teachers to plan lessons, access instructional materials, and track student performance more efficiently.

The Ogun State Government has launched a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence (AI)–powered teaching and learning platform, aimed at transforming education delivery and preparing learners for 21st-century skills.

Unveiled at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the platform—known as the Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLearn)—was officially launched by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Speaking at the event, Governor Abiodun said OgunLearn is designed to provide students with comprehensive lesson resources and interactive learning support, while enabling teachers to plan lessons, access instructional materials, and track student performance more efficiently. He noted that the platform promotes creativity, digital thinking, self-paced learning, and accountability among learners.

According to the governor, OgunLearn reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality education enhanced by technology, regardless of students’ location or background. He described the initiative as part of a deliberate effort to prepare children and youths for the future of work and innovation.

Abiodun highlighted that Ogun State is currently the only state in Nigeria operating a Skills Qualifications Awarding Body and serving as an accredited training centre for globally recognised digital skills. He also outlined several complementary education and skills initiatives introduced by his administration, including Ogun Skills Fund, Ogun Educash, Ogun Scholar, Ogun-Rehab, Ogun Teach, and Ogun-DIPER, all aimed at improving access, quality, infrastructure, and transparency in education.

The governor explained that OgunLearn is a core component of the state’s broader Education Digital Transformation Agenda (OGSERA), which leverages technology to strengthen institutions, empower teachers, and improve learning outcomes. He also cited the Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DIPER) as a flagship achievement that has enhanced efficiency, transparency, and data-driven decision-making in school administration.

He added that Ogun State has emerged as a national reference point in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and pioneered the Learner Identification System (LIN), now adopted nationally as the Examination Learner Identification Number (ELIN).

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said OgunLearn builds on the state’s use of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure continuity of learning. The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barrister Olalekan Ifede, described the platform as the future of education and urged teachers to fully utilise its capabilities.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed that education remains the strongest legacy of his administration, noting that initiatives such as OgunLearn are central to building a sustainable and innovative future for the state.
