Kenya Launches EU-Funded Cyber Resilience Project to Strengthen Digital Security

Kenya has officially launched the Kenya Cyber Resilience (KCR) Project, a major initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s digital security framework and strengthening national cyber resilience. Speaking at the launch as Chief Guest, Steve Isaboke, EBS, underscored the importance of cyber resilience as a national priority, highlighting its role in safeguarding economic growth and protecting democratic values in an increasingly digital society. The initiative is expected to support Kenya’s efforts to build robust systems capable of preventing, detecting, and responding to cyber threats.
The KCR Project brings together international and local stakeholders to reinforce institutional capacity, improve cybersecurity practices, and promote collaboration across sectors. It aligns with Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda, which depends on secure and reliable digital infrastructure.
The launch event was attended by key government and diplomatic representatives, including Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy Eng. John Tanui; Romain Boyer, Political Counsellor at the French Embassy; Jorge Pereiro Pinon, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Kenya; and Elisabeth Rivier, Project Manager at Expertise France.
The initiative marks a significant step in international cooperation on cybersecurity and reflects growing recognition of the need for resilient digital ecosystems to support innovation, governance, and economic development.
