The solution is tailored for both rural and urban communities, strengthening livelihoods and contributing to Zambia’s financial inclusion goals.

Airtel Money Zambia  has introduced Airtel Money Village Banking, a digital platform designed to modernize how village banking groups, cooperatives, and savings collectives manage and grow their funds. Accessible via the *115# menu under Option 7: Savings and Investment, the service offers a secure, transparent, and efficient way for groups to handle deposits, withdrawals, and member contributions directly through Airtel Money.

Speaking on the launch, Airtel Money Country Director Andrew Chuma emphasized the pivotal role of village banking in promoting financial inclusion across Zambia. He explained that the new digital solution preserves the traditional community savings model while enhancing it with technology that ensures safety, accountability, and convenience for every member. Groups can register through the My Airtel App and gain full visibility of both individual and collective transactions, significantly reducing the risks associated with cash handling and manual record-keeping.

Chuma added that Airtel Money Village Banking empowers members with real-time transaction tracking, digital statements, and greater confidence in fund management. The solution is tailored for both rural and urban communities, strengthening livelihoods and contributing to Zambia’s financial inclusion goals. By digitizing the village banking model, Airtel Money is supporting broader financial digitalization under the supervision of the Bank of Zambia, while promoting responsible innovation, consumer protection, and sustainable economic growth.
