Malawi Revenue Authority Extends Pilot Phase for Electronic Invoicing System (EIS)
This extension follows extensive consultations and feedback from various stakeholders and aims to ensure a smooth transition from Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) to the new system.
The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has announced an extension of the pilot phase for the Electronic Invoicing System (EIS), set to run from 1st February to 30th April 2026. This extension follows extensive consultations and feedback from various stakeholders and aims to ensure a smooth transition from Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) to the new system.
During this period, the EIS will operate alongside existing EFDs, allowing businesses and taxpayers to familiarize themselves with the new system while maintaining current operations. The MRA has emphasized that EFDs will no longer be permitted after 30th April 2026, marking a full transition to the EIS.
To support taxpayers during the transition, the MRA will provide technical assistance and guidance, helping all users onboard effectively. The authority also commended those who have already migrated to the EIS and encouraged remaining taxpayers to utilize the available support services to complete their migration successfully.
