Mauritius Telecom has officially launched the mytGPT Educational Project, a pilot initiative aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into Mauritian classrooms to support teaching and learning. The launch marks a significant milestone in the country’s education digital transformation efforts.
The project was introduced on Monday, 26 January, in the presence of Devendre Gopaul, Senior Chief Executive, Ricaud Auckbur, Chief Technical Officer at the Ministry of Education and Human Resource, and Veemal Gungadin, CEO of Mauritius Telecom. The event underscored collaboration between the telecom provider and education authorities in leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes.
A live demonstration was held at James Burty David State Secondary School (SSS), where attendees received a practical showcase of the platform’s capabilities. The session highlighted how the system can be used in real classroom environments to assist both students and educators.
Developed by Mauritius Telecom, the mytGPT Educational Platform introduces an AI-powered personal tutor designed for schools. The platform aims to strengthen student understanding, provide additional academic support, and equip teachers with digital tools to enhance instruction. By embedding AI into the learning process, the initiative seeks to improve engagement, personalise learning experiences, and support overall academic progress.
