SMART Zambia Drives Police Digitalisation with New Tech Rollout to 40 Stations

SMART Zambia Institute has received critical networking equipment to support the digital transformation of police stations across the country, marking a significant step toward modernising Zambia’s law enforcement infrastructure. The development forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the use of technology in public service delivery and improve operational efficiency within the Zambia Police Service.
The newly delivered consignment includes routers, switches, access points and firewalls, and will be deployed to 40 police stations nationwide. The equipment is a key component of the Zambia Police Service Local Area Network (LAN) and Last Mile Connectivity Project, which aims to connect stations to a centralised digital system. Once implemented, the infrastructure will enable police stations to move essential processes and record-keeping online, improving coordination and data management.
Project Manager Zaima Banda said the initiative lays the foundation for enhanced transparency, stronger inter-station communication and improved service delivery to the public. The equipment was supplied by local ICT firm Synth Tech Limited, underscoring the role of domestic technology providers in national digital development. The rollout is also expected to strengthen data security while streamlining internal police operations.
