Ghana Pushes Tech-Law Reforms to Support AI, Fintech and Cybersecurity Growth
Reaffirming the Ministry’s open-door approach, the Deputy Minister pledged support for partnerships with AITLAP Africa in research, capacity building, and public education on digital rights and emerging technologies.
Ghana has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the legal and policy foundations needed to drive digital innovation, with a strong focus on aligning technology growth with effective regulation. This message was delivered at the TechLaw Conference 2026 and the launch of AITLAP Africa at the University of Ghana School of Law, where the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, represented the Sector Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George. He described the intersection of law, technology, and innovation as a critical force shaping the country’s development trajectory.
The Deputy Minister noted that the creation of AITLAP Africa comes at a pivotal time, as Ghana works to strengthen regulatory frameworks in key areas including fintech, e-commerce, data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He stressed that closer collaboration between legal professionals, technologists, and policymakers is essential to ensure innovation remains secure, inclusive, and competitive on a global scale.
Artificial intelligence was highlighted as a rapidly growing driver of efficiency across financial services, legal practice, and public administration. However, he emphasized that its expansion must be guided by ethical standards and forward-looking legislation to manage risks while unlocking benefits.
Reaffirming the Ministry’s open-door approach, the Deputy Minister pledged support for partnerships with AITLAP Africa in research, capacity building, and public education on digital rights and emerging technologies. He called on stakeholders across sectors to actively contribute to shaping a resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem for Ghana.
