Author: Akim Benamara

In her new role, she will lead the group’s technology strategy aimed at strengthening regulatory assurance, operational integrity and financial crime prevention.

Nomonde White-Ndlovu brings nearly two decades of experience to the position. She previously held several roles at Absa,  most recently serving as Head of Governance and Reporting for Digital Solutions, Innovation and Technology.

Her return to Absa Group marks a meaningful full-circle moment as she steps into the role of Chief Information Officer for the compliance function.

A multi-award-winning technology executive, Nomonde has extensive senior leadership experience across Barclays Africa, Standard Bank South Africa, BAT and UCS Solutions.

In her new role, she will lead the group’s technology strategy aimed at strengthening regulatory assurance, operational integrity and financial crime prevention. Her focus includes building secure, resilient and intelligent platforms that support regulatory confidence, enhance crime prevention efforts and reinforce strong governance across the Absa Group.

She will work closely with compliance, risk, financial crime and technology teams to modernise and strengthen capabilities in a responsible and future-ready manner, while also contributing to Absa’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Nomonde holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and a Bachelor of Commerce in Law and Politics from Wits University. She has further completed executive education programmes at Wits Business School, Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, the London School of Economics and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

She also serves as chairperson of the Wired4Women advisory board and is a strong advocate for women in technology and youth development.

At the core of her mandate is the deliberate building of trust through disciplined governance, thoughtful technology choices and careful execution. She views compliance technology not merely as a control function, but as a strategic enabler of integrity, resilience and sustainable growth.
