Outsourcing Alliance Launch Signals Expansion of Kenya’s Digital Economy
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s position in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), reinforcing Kenya’s competitiveness as a global outsourcing destination.
Kenya’s Global Business Services (GBS) sector has marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya (OAK) on February 3, 2026. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s position in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), reinforcing Kenya’s competitiveness as a global outsourcing destination.
The launch event included representation from the Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, whose address was delivered by Richard Kerich, Senior Chief Finance Officer. The message highlighted the sector’s role in driving inclusive employment opportunities for Kenyan youth and underscored the government’s support through targeted policies, regulatory frameworks, and market access initiatives designed to grow the outsourcing industry.
Government-backed programmes such as Ajira Digital and Jitume were noted as key drivers of digital skills development, equipping young Kenyans with competencies aligned to the demands of the global outsourcing market.
The event also brought together stakeholders from across the digital ecosystem, including representatives from Genesis Analytics and ICT leadership, reflecting broad collaboration in advancing Kenya’s digital economy ambitions.
The formation of OAK is expected to foster industry coordination, enhance service delivery standards, and accelerate job creation as Kenya continues to position itself as a leading hub for digital services and outsourcing.
