The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has called on MultiChoice Malawi to review its subscription pricing to make its services more affordable and accessible to a wider segment of Malawians. The appeal was made by MACRA Acting Director General, Mayamiko Nkoloma, during an engagement meeting with the company held over the weekend.
Responding to the regulator’s concerns, MultiChoice Malawi Managing Director Averess Ndlovu-Chella expressed the company’s willingness to explore possible adjustments to its pricing structure. She noted that the move aligns with MultiChoice’s broader objective of supporting the growth of the media and entertainment industry in Malawi.
Ndlovu-Chella also reaffirmed MultiChoice’s commitment to maintaining open dialogue with MACRA to strengthen their working relationship. Additionally, she requested the regulator’s support regarding the repatriation of revenues to the company’s parent organization in South Africa.
