The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation. At a strategic meeting, Dr. Dimie Shively Warowie, PhD, Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, representing NITDA’s Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, engaged with the Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)  to explore areas of mutual cooperation.

Discussions centered on delivering universal, meaningful, and affordable connectivity for all Nigerians while safeguarding the digital space. The ITU representative commended Nigeria’s regulatory progress, highlighting the country’s achievement of G5-level collaborative regulation, and praised the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani. The Bureau also reaffirmed its support for NITDA, offering technical assistance, cybersecurity tools, and backing for initiatives aimed at inclusive connectivity and functional digital transformation centers nationwide.

On behalf of NITDA’s Director-General, Dr. Warowie outlined the agency’s strategic priorities, including digital skills development, cybersecurity resilience, innovation and digital entrepreneurship, and the harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and technical standards. Both parties identified key areas for immediate collaboration, such as digital literacy, cybersecurity capacity building, innovation support, school connectivity, and regulatory alignment.
