Manama IX Partners with Tata Communications and Tencent to Boost Security and Connectivity
The collaborations are aimed at boosting the exchange’s security, performance, and global connectivity as regional demand for resilient digital infrastructure grows.
Manama IX, Bahrain’s first and only Internet Exchange Point (IXP), has strengthened its interconnection ecosystem through new partnerships with Tata Communications and Tencent , announced during Capacity Middle East. The collaborations are aimed at boosting the exchange’s security, performance, and global connectivity as regional demand for resilient digital infrastructure grows.
Tata Communications has joined Manama IX as a strategic security partner, supporting the rollout of exchange-level Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection. The addition introduces carrier-grade resilience across the platform, helping safeguard all members against large-scale cyber threats and improving the overall reliability of internet traffic flowing through the exchange.
At the same time, Tencent’s onboarding broadens Manama IX’s global content ecosystem. By bringing more international content closer to local networks, the move is expected to enhance connectivity and reduce latency for users in Bahrain and across the wider Middle East. Together, the partnerships position Manama IX as a more secure, scalable, and future-ready interconnection hub, reinforcing its role in supporting the region’s accelerating digital growth.
