GoDaddy Launches Agent Name Service to Secure AI Agent Ecosystem
The ANS framework promotes global standards, accountability, and discovery, with compliance-friendly transparency logs and compatibility across platforms and browsers without plug-ins.
As the number of AI agents accelerates, with over one billion expected to be created by businesses within the next three years, ensuring trust and security has become a pressing concern. To address this, GoDaddy has introduced the Agent Name Service (ANS), the internet’s first trust layer for AI agents.
ANS provides developers, organizations, and users with a reliable method to verify, discover, and register AI agents. Leveraging established internet infrastructure, including domain names, DNS, and PKI certificates, ANS assigns each agent a unique, human-readable name and a cryptographically verifiable identity. This system allows AI agents to be safely discovered and verified across the open web, helping distinguish legitimate agents from malicious or rogue actors.
Building on this standard, GoDaddy launched the ANS Registry, which binds an AI agent’s identity to a domain name. Registered agents earn an ANS-verified badge, providing users a clear indicator of trust and enabling transparency around agent ownership and organizational verification.
“AI should move the world forward without putting people at risk. ANS provides responsible builders a clear badge of trust and gives users a quick way to see who—and what—is behind an AI agent.”
