Guinea Launches CORIS MONEY to Boost Financial Inclusion and Digitalization
With the launch of CORIS MONEY, Guinea takes a decisive step toward becoming a more connected nation, leveraging technological innovation to simplify everyday financial transactions while promoting economic growth and modernization.
The Ministry of Communications, Digital Economy, and Innovation (MCENI) has officially launched CORIS MONEY, an electronic currency solution developed by Coris Bank International, marking a significant step toward modernizing Guinea’s financial system. The launch ceremony took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, and was attended by government officials, banking sector stakeholders, and economic partners.
During the ceremony, Minister MOURANA SOUMAH highlighted that CORIS MONEY aligns with the Simandou Vision 2040, the national development strategy proposed by the Head of State. He described the initiative as a crucial tool for enhancing financial inclusion, enabling citizens to access digital banking services even without a traditional bank account.
Addressing the broader challenges of digital transformation, the Minister emphasized the importance of accelerating the digitalization of transactions to strengthen transparency and accountability. He also stressed the need for continued investment in digital infrastructure to ensure nationwide coverage and encouraged interoperability among financial actors to foster a more integrated and efficient ecosystem.
