The new partnership aims to address these challenges by simplifying cross-border payments and enhancing interoperability.

HUB2  has announced a strategic partnership with Ecobank  Transnational Incorporated to advance digital payments across Africa. While digital finance adoption is growing rapidly, the continent’s payment systems remain fragmented, requiring businesses—especially SMEs—to integrate with multiple platforms across markets. This often slows expansion and increases operational costs. The new partnership aims to address these challenges by simplifying cross-border payments and enhancing interoperability.

Through this collaboration, Hub2’s network of over 200 million mobile wallets will be connected with Ecobank’s banking infrastructure across 32 African markets, creating a single, seamless gateway for merchants, fintechs, and remittance providers to move funds efficiently. The partnership promises one API, faster settlement, greater interoperability, and secure, low-cost transactions, enabling businesses to operate across borders with reduced friction.

The initial rollout will focus on the UEMOA and CEMAC regions, strengthening regional trade and accelerating digital commerce in key markets including Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Mali. Hub2 expressed gratitude to the Ecobank team for their confidence and collaboration, emphasizing that together they are building a more connected African payments ecosystem.
