INCM Engages TV Providers to Expand and Modernize Digital Broadcasting in Mozambique

The Communications Regulatory Authority (INCM)  recently met with national television providers with the aim of strengthening and expanding digital television broadcasting services in the country, in an INCM initiative that reflects the commitment to the modernization of communications and the implementation of sustainable technologies for local development.

The meeting, which took place on 27 February, was attended by 17 content providers, and strategies were discussed to improve the quality and reach of digital television broadcasting in Mozambique, in line with the Government’s objectives of promoting digital inclusion and expanding access to telecommunications throughout the country.

The Administrator of the Engineering and Supervision Division, Martins Langa, reiterated that Television is a national strategic asset whose sustainability requires collective commitment, transparency and balance between public interest and economic viability.

In turn, the representatives of the entities that participated in the meeting shared their perspectives and challenges, which should ensure the strengthening of cooperation between the INCM and the operators of the sector.

Digital television is a strategic instrument for social inclusion, access to education, the exercise of citizenship and the affirmation of information sovereignty. For this reason, the INCM has been working to promote the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure and the implementation of projects, especially to ensure “Rural Inclusion.”

In the country, there are currently more than 30 national licensed content providers, which operate through the national operator’s platform (MUX), ensuring coverage that reaches about 70% of the Mozambican population.
