During the second edition of #JazzWithJajja, President Yoweri K. Museveni pledged UGX 5 billion to support content creators in Uganda, highlighting the growing importance of the digital economy. The announcement came as part of a broader discussion on sectors driving the nation’s economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, music, and information and communications technology (ICT).
Content creator Kasuku addressed the President, reflecting on his journey from traditional media—print, radio, and television—to the digital space, where platforms like YouTube and TikTok have allowed him to reach a national audience and earn a living. He emphasized that the digital economy is creating significant employment opportunities for youth, particularly in content creation.
Kasuku also illustrated how digital creators are helping other sectors, such as agriculture, by promoting products and processes to wider audiences. Using President Museveni’s farm as an example, he explained how content creators showcase the lifecycle of livestock and the production of ghee, connecting producers to consumers and adding value to the local economy.
