SMART Zambia Institute and UNICEF Partner to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Zambia
The partnership underscores Zambia’s broader commitment to digital transformation through its e-government initiatives, while also aligning with UNICEF’s mission to leverage technology to improve the lives of children.
The SMART Zambia Institute has announced a new strategic partnership with UNICEF aimed at accelerating digital transformation and advancing child-focused technology solutions in Zambia.
The collaboration was discussed during a high-level meeting held in Lusaka on March 25, 2026. The engagement brought together key stakeholders from both organisations to explore areas of cooperation in leveraging digital tools to improve public services and outcomes for children and young people.
Representing SMART Zambia were National Coordinator Percy Chinyama, Government Chief Technology Officer Kasali Musenge, and Director of Digital Government Services Mulomba Hameja. The UNICEF Zambia delegation included Representative Saja Abdullah, Deputy Representative for Operations Henri Heikura, Education Officer Misheck Mwanza, and Technology for Development Specialist Emmanuel Okwuosa.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in deploying innovative digital solutions, particularly those that support education, service delivery, and child welfare. Both parties emphasized the importance of technology in driving inclusive development and improving access to essential services.
The partnership underscores Zambia’s broader commitment to digital transformation through its e-government initiatives, while also aligning with UNICEF’s mission to leverage technology to improve the lives of children. Further engagements are expected as both organisations work toward implementing joint digital initiatives across the country.
