The Ministry of Security of Burkina Faso (MSECU-BF) has officially launched a new digital platform for travel document management, marking a significant step in the modernization of the country’s border control system.
The launch ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the public hall of Ouagadougou International Airport, in the presence of the Minister of Digital Transition and various stakeholders in the air transport sector.
According to Minister of Security Mahamadou SANA, the system replaces the previous manual process, which often caused delays and inconvenience for travelers. He noted that the digital solution now allows passengers to submit their travel information up to 72 hours before departure, improving efficiency and reducing bottlenecks at border points.
The Minister further explained that the platform will provide security services with real-time access to accurate traveler data, enhance traceability of passenger movements, and strengthen national capabilities for information analysis and processing.
He emphasized that the initiative is part of Burkina Faso’s broader digital transformation agenda for public administration, aimed at streamlining procedures, improving service delivery, and reinforcing national security systems.
