Through this engagement, CAMTEL reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, strategic partnerships, and the adoption of advanced technologies to drive connectivity and digital inclusion nationwide.

Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) i s exploring new strategies to enhance national connectivity through potential partnerships focused on satellite technology.

The state-owned telecom operator hosted a high-level delegation on April 8 led by Kyle Whitehill, CEO of Avanti Communications, alongside the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Cameroon, Matt Woods. The delegation was received by CAMTEL’s Managing Director, Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi.

The meeting focused on identifying practical areas of collaboration, particularly in leveraging satellite solutions to complement the country’s existing telecommunications infrastructure.

CAMTEL highlighted the importance of integrating satellite technology with its fibre network to build a more resilient, inclusive, and efficient digital ecosystem. While fibre remains the backbone of high-speed connectivity, satellite solutions are seen as critical in addressing geographical challenges and extending coverage to underserved and remote areas.

The discussions underscored a broader industry approach that emphasizes the complementarity of technologies rather than competition, aiming to ensure equitable and sustainable access to digital services across Cameroon.

Through this engagement, CAMTEL reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, strategic partnerships, and the adoption of advanced technologies to drive connectivity and digital inclusion nationwide.
