The conversation centered on business performance, network investments, and the role of technology in enhancing customer experience across Uganda’s telecom sector.

Airtel Uganda  hosted a media engagement session on Saturday morning at Serena Hotel Kampala, bringing together selected business journalists for a focused discussion with Sunil Taldar and Soumendra Sahu. The conversation centered on business performance, network investments, and the role of technology in enhancing customer experience across Uganda’s telecom sector.

During the engagement, leadership emphasized a customer-first strategy across the Airtel Africa Group, with Group CEO Sunil Taldar stating that the company places customers at the centre of its operations across all markets in Africa. The discussion highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery through sustained investment in digital infrastructure and innovation.

Airtel Uganda reported strong financial performance for the year ending December 2025, with revenue increasing by 13.3% to UGX 2,250 billion. The company also recorded an EBITDA margin of 54.9%, while full-year dividends rose by 41.6% to UGX 11.15 per share, reflecting continued growth and operational efficiency.

The company also highlighted progress in customer protection initiatives, noting the deployment of AI-powered systems designed to combat online scams and spam. According to management, these measures have significantly reduced the volume of malicious messages experienced by users in Uganda.

The discussion further covered infrastructure collaborations, including partnerships with SpaceX, as well as the broader work of the Airtel Africa Foundation in advancing digital inclusion, financial access, and education across the continent.

Executives also reaffirmed Uganda’s strategic importance within the group, noting that many of Airtel Africa’s innovations are first launched in the Ugandan market before wider regional rollout.

The engagement concluded with appreciation for media partners and an invitation to participate in the Airtel Kabaka Birthday Run scheduled to take place in Lubiri Mengo.
