Uganda Advances Digital Transformation with Launch of Postcom E-Commerce Platform

The initiative aligns with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap (FY2023/24–2027/28), which aims to build a more inclusive and digitally driven economy.

Uganda has officially launched a new national e-commerce platform, Postcom, as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation and support local businesses. The platform, developed by Posta Uganda, was unveiled at the Uganda Media Centre by Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku.

Postcom is designed to provide a secure and accessible online marketplace where Ugandans—particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)—can showcase, sell, and purchase locally produced goods. The initiative aligns with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap (FY2023/24–2027/28), which aims to build a more inclusive and digitally driven economy.

The platform is expected to expand market access for local entrepreneurs by connecting them to both domestic and international buyers. By leveraging the nationwide logistics network of Posta Uganda, Postcom will also support efficient last-mile delivery, addressing a key challenge in e-commerce adoption across the country.

In addition, the initiative reinforces Uganda’s Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy by promoting locally made products and encouraging domestic consumption. Officials say the platform will contribute to increasing household incomes, strengthening small businesses, and advancing digital inclusion.

The government has called on ministries, departments, agencies, private sector players, and entrepreneurs to adopt and utilize Postcom as a tool for economic growth and national development, positioning it as a key component of Uganda’s broader digital economy strategy.
