Namibia Launches 2026 Cybersecurity Incident Management Guidelines
According to the Ministry, the new framework is designed to enhance cybersecurity by providing operational standards and best practices for detecting, responding to, and recovering from cyber incidents in a coordinated manner across institutions.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in Namibia has launched the 2026 Cybersecurity Incident Management Guidelines, aimed at strengthening national cyber resilience and improving coordinated responses to digital threats.
The guidelines were officially launched by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus, during an event held in Ondangwa in the Oshana Region. The ceremony was attended by Oshana Regional Governor, Hon. Hofni Iipinge, who welcomed stakeholders and reaffirmed the region’s readiness to support implementation efforts.
According to the Ministry, the new framework is designed to enhance cybersecurity by providing operational standards and best practices for detecting, responding to, and recovering from cyber incidents in a coordinated manner across institutions.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Emma Theofelus encouraged organisations to adopt a proactive, risk-based approach to cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of identifying vulnerabilities and implementing strong protective controls to safeguard digital systems.
The initiative forms part of Namibia’s broader efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure security and ensure resilience in an increasingly connected environment.
