Airtel Zambia Expands Rural Education Access with New Community School in Chipata

Speaking at the event, Airtel Zambia Managing Director Hussam Baday reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to national development, stating that investment in education helps build stronger communities, a skilled workforce, and a more resilient economy.

Airtel Zambia PLC  has commissioned and officially handed over Kamulaseni Community School in Chipata District, reinforcing its commitment to improving access to quality education in rural Zambia through public-private partnerships.

The handover ceremony was officiated by the Permanent Secretary – Education Services, represented by Eastern Province Provincial Education Officer Brainely Malambo, who commended Airtel Zambia and the Airtel Africa Foundation for their investment in education infrastructure. He described the school as a “gateway to opportunity” and urged the local community to safeguard the facility.

Chipata Mayor George Mwanza also praised Airtel Zambia as a model for corporate involvement in education, noting that learners would benefit from modern digital tools. He highlighted that the computers provided are aligned with those used in urban schools, helping to build confidence and bridge the digital divide.

Traditional leadership was represented by His Royal Highness Chief Kapatamoyo of the Ngoni people, who welcomed the initiative and stressed its importance in supporting efforts to keep girls in school and reduce early marriages in the region.

He emphasised that Airtel’s role goes beyond connectivity, positioning the company as a development partner.

In addition to the school infrastructure, Airtel Zambia donated desks, computers, and digital screens to improve learning outcomes and enhance access to digital education tools for learners at Kamulaseni Community School.
