The new platform provides citizens with digital access to laws, decrees, and other regulatory texts dating from 1958 to the present.

The United Nations Development Programme in Chad (PNUD Tchad) has announced the successful digitisation and online publication of 68 years of government archives through a new digital portal for the country’s Official Journal.

According to the organisation, the initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Secretary General of the Government and aims to improve public access to official legal and regulatory information in Chad.

The new platform provides citizens with digital access to laws, decrees, and other regulatory texts dating from 1958 to the present. The project involved the securing and dematerialisation of government archives, helping preserve historical records while making them more accessible through online channels.

PNUD Tchad said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to support digital transformation, transparency, and improved access to public information in the country.

By moving decades of official records into a digital format, the platform is expected to simplify access to government documentation for citizens, researchers, institutions, and other stakeholders while modernising the management of public archives in Chad.
