MTN South Africa Expands Digital Skills Programme to Empower 700 Youth
The programme aims to ensure that skills development leads to meaningful employment opportunities and economic participation.
MTN South Africa, through the MTN SA Foundation, has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing youth unemployment and the country’s digital skills gap through its Digital Skills for Digital Jobs (DS4DJ) programme.
The company recently hosted a Digital Skills Training Exposure Day in Diepsloot, bringing together ecosystem partners, training providers, and young participants at the Afrika Tikkun x MTN Skills Academy Hub. The event highlighted the role of collaboration in equipping young South Africans with the skills needed to participate in the digital economy.
Under the 2026 DS4DJ programme, MTN is providing accredited digital skills training to 700 unemployed young people across all nine provinces. In Gauteng, 55 learners are currently working towards a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5 qualification, preparing them for opportunities in the evolving digital workforce.
The initiative is being delivered in partnership with organisations including Afrika Tikkun and Datacomb Development Hubs, supported by platforms such as the MTN Skills Academy. The programme aims to ensure that skills development leads to meaningful employment opportunities and economic participation.
MTN South Africa said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to build a more inclusive, resilient, and digitally enabled society by empowering young people with future-ready skills.
The DS4DJ programme reflects growing efforts by the private sector to support workforce development and create pathways to employment in South Africa’s increasingly digital economy.
