Orange DRC Unveils Strategy to Accelerate Digital Transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Central to the discussions were efforts to improve network quality and connectivity through continued investment in infrastructure, including the expansion of fibre-optic networks.
Orange DRC has reaffirmed its ambition to help position the Democratic Republic of Congo as a leading technology hub in Africa by 2030, following high-level discussions with the country’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
The company’s Director General, Brutus Sadou Diakite, alongside members of the management committee, was received by the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, His Excellency José Mpanda Kabangu. The meeting provided an opportunity to present Orange DRC’s strategic roadmap and align on key priorities aimed at accelerating digital inclusion across the country.
Central to the discussions were efforts to improve network quality and connectivity through continued investment in infrastructure, including the expansion of fibre-optic networks. The company also emphasized the importance of increasing digital accessibility by addressing the cost of smartphones and reviewing taxes and customs duties on telecommunications equipment, measures it says are essential to expanding network capacity and improving coverage across the country’s 145 territories.
Another key focus area was skills development and innovation. Orange DRC reiterated its commitment to transferring technical expertise from the wider Orange Group and investing in the training of young local talent to build a strong digital workforce that can support future economic growth.
Both parties highlighted that accelerating the country’s digital transformation is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration between the public and private sectors. Orange DRC expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s continued support and reaffirmed its alignment with the national development vision led by President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
