Unitel Agreements Set to Expand Broadband and Strengthen Angola’s Digital Infrastructure
Unitel said the initiatives reflect its ongoing commitment to increasing connectivity, driving innovation and supporting the creation of a more inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem for Angola.
Telecommunications operator Unitel has strengthened its commitment to Angola’s digital development through the signing of two strategic agreements during the opening day of the ANGOTIC technology forum.
The company formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Space Program Management Office (GGPN), aimed at fostering institutional, technical, technological and scientific cooperation. The agreement was signed by Unitel Chief Executive Officer Amílcar Safeca and GGPN Director General Zolana João.
Under the partnership, the two organizations will collaborate on initiatives involving space technologies, artificial intelligence-driven geospatial solutions, connectivity, innovation, digital empowerment and broader digital transformation efforts.
In a separate development, Unitel also signed an infrastructure-sharing agreement with Angola Telecom. The contract was signed by Unitel CEO Amílcar Safeca and Angola Telecom Chairman Adilson dos Santos.
According to the companies, the partnership will accelerate the development of Angola’s telecommunications sector by expanding broadband access across the country, including underserved border regions. The agreement is also expected to enhance network coverage, improve redundancy and strengthen the resilience of telecommunications infrastructure.
