Burkina Faso Strengthens Oversight of National Fibre Optic Infrastructure

Ministère de la Transition Digitale, des Postes et des Communications Électroniques has launched a nationwide monitoring mission aimed at strengthening the oversight and reliability of fibre optic infrastructure across the country.
The initiative, which runs from June 15 to June 24, 2026, is focused on ensuring more stable access to internet and digital services by closely assessing the condition of telecommunications infrastructure that supports data transmission nationwide.
The operation is being carried out by members of a government-established Monitoring Committee tasked with inspecting key components of the national digital infrastructure. These include fibre optic networks, technical equipment, power supply systems, and other critical facilities required for the continuous delivery of telecommunications services.
According to the Ministry, the objective of the mission is to safeguard public investments in the sector, prevent service disruptions, and enhance the overall performance of national digital infrastructure. The effort is also intended to gradually improve connectivity quality for citizens across the country.
This initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to positioning digital infrastructure as a key driver of national development and supporting Burkina Faso’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.
