Chad Inaugurates Strategic Regulatory Platforms to Strengthen Telecom Oversight
The newly introduced platforms are equipped with advanced technological systems aimed at enabling ARCEP to monitor data traffic, network performance, infrastructure failures, and spectrum usage in real time.
Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes (ARCEP) has launched new Strategic Regulatory Platforms designed to enhance real-time monitoring and regulation of telecommunications networks and digital infrastructure across the country.
The inauguration ceremony, held on June 18, 2026, was led by the Minister of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalisation, Haliki Choua Mahamat, and attended by senior officials including the Secretary of State for Telecommunications Ibango Manga Ma Jona Abel, the Chairman of the Regulatory Board Timan Erdimi, and ARCEP Deputy Director General Isra Brahim Mahamat, alongside other stakeholders in the telecom sector.
The newly introduced platforms are equipped with advanced technological systems aimed at enabling ARCEP to monitor data traffic, network performance, infrastructure failures, and spectrum usage in real time. The tools are also expected to strengthen oversight of mobile operators, internet service providers, satellite signals, and VSAT equipment across Chad’s telecommunications ecosystem.
According to ARCEP officials, the systems represent a major shift toward data-driven regulation, allowing the authority to move from traditional compliance-based oversight to a more proactive model based on continuous monitoring, analytics, and control.
During the ceremony, officials emphasized that the new infrastructure will improve service quality monitoring, enhance frequency management, combat unauthorized network interference, and ensure better revenue and traffic supervision within the sector.
The Ministry of Telecommunications highlighted that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing regulatory capabilities and strengthening digital governance in line with rapid technological changes and increasing demand for connectivity services.
The event concluded with a tour of the new technical complex, where officials inspected the installed systems and received demonstrations of how the platforms will support national telecom regulation going forward.
