The initiative aims to create dedicated learning centres that will provide young Liberians with access to digital tools, internet connectivity and technology training opportunities.

The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA)  and the Ministry of Youth and Sports  have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish 15 Youth Digital Skills Hubs across Liberia as part of efforts to expand access to technology and digital education for young people.

The initiative aims to create dedicated learning centres that will provide young Liberians with access to digital tools, internet connectivity and technology training opportunities. The project is expected to strengthen digital inclusion and support the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Under the agreement, the LTA will supply computers, printers and Starlink high-performance broadband services to each of the digital hubs. The telecommunications regulator will also provide one year of internet connectivity for all participating centres.

In addition to the infrastructure support, the authority will fully finance a three-month digital skills training programme designed to equip young people with practical technology skills. The programme is expected to benefit approximately 750 young people across the country.

The initiative reflects growing efforts by the Liberian government to improve digital literacy and prepare young people for opportunities in the digital economy. Access to technology training and internet connectivity remains a challenge in many parts of the country, particularly for young people seeking skills that are increasingly important in the modern workforce.

The planned digital hubs are expected to serve as community centres for learning, innovation and skills development, helping participants gain knowledge in digital technologies and improve their employability.

The partnership between the LTA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports also highlights the increasing role of collaboration between government institutions in addressing digital skills gaps and promoting technology adoption among young people.

As Liberia continues to expand its digital infrastructure, initiatives such as the Youth Digital Skills Hubs are expected to contribute to workforce development, digital inclusion and the growth of the country’s technology ecosystem.
