The partnership underscores Guinea's commitment to building a resilient digital economy through strategic collaboration with global technology leaders.

Guinea’s Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Innovation,  Mourana Soumah, has held high-level talks with Huawei  executives during a working visit to China, as the West African nation moves to strengthen its digital infrastructure and technological capabilities.

The meeting, which took place with Huawei Vice President Mr. Zhang and senior company representatives, forms part of Guinea’s broader digital transformation agenda under President Mamadi Doumbouya’s Simandou 2040 Programme. The initiative aims to accelerate the country’s digital development, reinforce technological sovereignty, and leverage digital innovation to drive economic growth, social inclusion, and the modernization of public services.

Discussions focused on expanding Guinea’s national fibre optic network, developing a national data centre, establishing a sovereign cloud infrastructure, and improving connectivity in underserved rural communities. The two sides also explored opportunities to deploy artificial intelligence solutions, enhance digital public services, introduce intelligent monitoring technologies, strengthen digital skills development, and establish industrial and technology centres across the country.

According to the Ministry of Communication, Digital Economy and Innovation, the ongoing engagement between the ministry and Huawei is expected to culminate in a comprehensive memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement that will guide the implementation of priority digital transformation projects. The partnership underscores Guinea’s commitment to building a resilient digital economy through strategic collaboration with global technology leaders.
