Kenya and Oracle Explore Partnership to Advance Digital Transformation

Kenya is seeking to deepen collaboration with global technology firms as it advances its digital transformation agenda, with cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and sovereign cloud infrastructure emerging as key areas of focus.
Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, recently hosted David Bunei, Managing Director of Oracle Kenya and Public Sector Leader for Africa, for discussions on strengthening public-private partnerships to support the country’s digital ambitions.
According to Tanui, the meeting explored how cloud technologies, AI, and sovereign cloud infrastructure can accelerate digital transformation across Kenya and the wider African continent. The discussions also highlighted the growing importance of secure, resilient, and citizen-centric digital services as governments and businesses continue to adopt digital technologies.
The Principal Secretary noted that strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors will be essential to building the digital infrastructure, trust, and innovation required to support long-term economic competitiveness. He emphasized that digital transformation will increasingly depend on collaboration rather than technology adoption alone.
Tanui said Kenya is positioning itself as a regional digital hub and that partnerships with global technology companies such as Oracle will play a key role in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure, improving public service delivery, fostering innovation, and creating new opportunities for businesses and young people.
