The campaign seeks to transform the way millions of daily transport payments are made by promoting safer, simpler and more inclusive digital transactions.

MoMo  from MTN Uganda  has launched Code Yo Maali Yo, a nationwide campaign in partnership with the Boda Boda Union to accelerate the adoption of cashless payments across Uganda’s transport sector.

The campaign seeks to transform the way millions of daily transport payments are made by promoting safer, simpler and more inclusive digital transactions. The launch event brought together boda boda riders, union leaders, government officials and customers, reflecting a shared commitment to building a digitally enabled transport ecosystem.

At the centre of the initiative is the use of the MoMo Code, which MTN says is designed to do more than facilitate payments. The platform enables riders to receive instant payments, enjoy free withdrawals and earn daily rewards, while allowing customers to pay seamlessly without incurring additional charges.

Speaking at the launch, Phrase Lubega said a cashless transport ecosystem offers benefits for all stakeholders by making transactions safer and more convenient. He added that digital payments also help riders establish a financial footprint, which can improve access to financial services such as business loans.

The event was officiated by Kabuye Kyofa, who welcomed the partnership and encouraged boda boda riders to embrace digital payments as a practical way to improve operational efficiency and expand access to financial services.

MoMo from MTN Uganda said it will roll out the Code Yo Maali Yo campaign across the country, with the aim of empowering more riders, delivering greater value to customers and supporting Uganda’s transition toward a more digitally inclusive economy.
