M-PESA Ethiopia Launches Cardless ATM Withdrawals With Bank of Abyssinia
The new service allows M-PESA customers to access their funds through the M-PESA app.
M-PESA Ethiopia has launched ATM cash withdrawal services in partnership with Bank of Abyssinia, enabling customers to withdraw cash directly from supported ATMs without using a physical bank card.
The new service allows M-PESA customers to access their funds through the M-PESA app. Users can select the withdrawal option, choose “Withdraw at ATM”, authorise the transaction and complete authentication before receiving cash from a supported ATM.
According to M-PESA Ethiopia, transactions are processed in real time, giving customers immediate access to their funds. The service is available around the clock, providing a cardless option for customers who need to withdraw cash while on the move.
The company said the integration with Bank of Abyssinia will be expanded to include additional banks, supporting greater interoperability between M-PESA and Ethiopia’s banking system.
The launch marks another step in M-PESA Ethiopia’s efforts to expand its digital payments ecosystem and provide customers with more convenient ways to access and use their money.
