The survey was conducted jointly by the Communications Authority and the University of Nairobi’s Institute for Development Studies (IDS) to generate empirical data on children’s online experiences and safety.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA)  and the University of Nairobi (UoN)  have begun reviewing preliminary findings from a national survey examining child online protection and safety in Kenya.

The review session focused on the structure of the survey’s final report, key thematic areas and how the findings should be presented and shared with relevant stakeholders ahead of the validation process.

The survey was conducted jointly by the Communications Authority and the University of Nairobi’s Institute for Development Studies (IDS) to generate empirical data on children’s online experiences and safety.

According to the Communications Authority, the findings will provide evidence to support the development of appropriate regulatory interventions aimed at strengthening child online protection in Kenya.

The latest engagement represents a step towards finalising the survey report and ensuring that its findings are credible, clearly structured and suitable for informing discussions among stakeholders working on child online safety.

Once validated, the findings are expected to support policy and regulatory efforts addressing online risks and improving protection for children using digital platforms in Kenya.
