Yas Tanzania Highlights Digital Infrastructure Investments at Tech & AI Expo

Yas Tanzania has highlighted its role in supporting Tanzania’s digital transformation during the Tech & AI International Expo 2026 in Zanzibar, where the company served as a sponsor under the theme “Africa Innovate.”
The expo also marked the official launch of Zanzibar’s AI and Digital Policy, providing a framework for the islands’ digital development and growing adoption of artificial intelligence.
Yas Tanzania said its role as a digital services provider extends beyond connectivity to building infrastructure that enables AI and other technologies to reach people, businesses and institutions. The company’s Chief Business Officer, Norman Kiondo, outlined the operator’s investments and digital infrastructure during the event.
Yas Tanzania said it has invested more than TZS 1.2 trillion in its network, which includes more than 4,900 sites and 5,700 kilometres of fibre. The company also highlighted its network performance, stating that it has been verified by Ookla as Tanzania’s fastest mobile network for three consecutive years.
The operator also pointed to its Tier III-certified data centre, which it said supports data sovereignty in Tanzania. In Zanzibar, Yas Tanzania is working with the Zanzibar Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Agency (ZICTIA) through a TZS 300 billion partnership aimed at extending fibre connectivity to homes and businesses.
Yas Tanzania said the investments are intended to support the development and adoption of AI and digital services in Tanzania. The company added that, as an African brand, it aims to contribute to the development of digital and AI solutions that reflect the needs and realities of Tanzania and the wider African continent.
