Kenya and UK Strengthen Cybersecurity Partnership to Protect Digital Economy
The talks focused on cybersecurity, Kenya’s expanding digital economy and public infrastructure, as well as emerging technologies including artificial intelligence. The two sides also explored opportunities to strengthen national resilience, digital security and public trust.
Kenya and the United Kingdom are strengthening their cybersecurity cooperation as both countries explore ways to protect Kenya’s growing digital economy and critical digital infrastructure.
The discussions took place during a visit to Kenya by Ollie Whitehouse, Chief Technology Officer at the UK National Cyber Security Centre, who met with Ambassador Philip Thigo, Kenya’s Special Envoy on Technology to the President. The engagement builds on the existing UK–Kenya Strategic Partnership.
The talks focused on cybersecurity, Kenya’s expanding digital economy and public infrastructure, as well as emerging technologies including artificial intelligence. The two sides also explored opportunities to strengthen national resilience, digital security and public trust.
The engagement brought together Kenya’s national security institutions to exchange perspectives and advance cooperation with their UK counterparts. Areas highlighted include protecting personal data, online services and digital payments, supporting safer e-government and businesses, strengthening local cybersecurity skills and improving public confidence in digital platforms.
The partnership is expected to deepen trusted cooperation between Kenya and the UK as both countries work toward a safer and more resilient digital economy for Kenyans.
