Uganda has launched a Child Online Protection Campaign aimed at promoting safer and more responsible internet use among children.

The campaign was launched by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC)  at Kololo Secondary School,  bringing together students, educators, government representatives and other stakeholders to raise awareness about online safety.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, stressed the need for child protection efforts to keep pace with the rapidly changing digital environment.

She called on parents, schools, technology companies and government institutions to work together to create safer online spaces for children.

“Children should not be kept out of the digital world; they should be equipped to navigate it safely,” she said.

The campaign highlights the importance of helping children benefit from digital technologies while developing the knowledge and skills needed to identify and manage online risks.
