CAMTEL and MINESEC Sign Deal to Expand Digital Education Across Northern Cameroon
Beyond connectivity, CAMTEL will provide MINESEC with a turnkey digital solution covering internet connectivity, telephony, online presence, secure data storage and technical support.
Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) and the Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) have signed a framework agreement to strengthen digital education through the interconnection of 130 schools across Cameroon’s Adamawa, North and Far North regions.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Distance Learning Centre in Yaoundé. It will see CAMTEL provide network expertise and connectivity to help teachers and students access digital learning resources and distance education tools.
Beyond connectivity, CAMTEL will provide MINESEC with a turnkey digital solution covering internet connectivity, telephony, online presence, secure data storage and technical support.
The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the two institutions. CAMTEL’s network currently covers 183 multimedia centres, more than 400 computer rooms and laboratories, as well as MINESEC’s central services and several regional and departmental delegations. The operator also hosts the ministry’s official web portal.
CAMTEL General Manager Judith Yah Sunday said, “When the course begins, the network must be there.” The statement reflects the operator’s focus on ensuring reliable connectivity supports learning, access to digital resources and broader digital inclusion.
The initiative is expected to improve access to digital education for students and teachers in the three northern regions, regardless of their location.
