CAMTEL Partners with SIC to Expand Fibre Connectivity Across Cameroon Housing Estates
The agreement is designed to bring very high-speed broadband closer to households by progressively deploying fibre-optic connectivity across SIC’s existing real estate portfolio. The rollout will follow priorities and timelines agreed by both parties.
Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has signed a framework partnership agreement with the Cameroon Real Estate Company (SIC) to strengthen connectivity and digital infrastructure across SIC housing developments.
The agreement is designed to bring very high-speed broadband closer to households by progressively deploying fibre-optic connectivity across SIC’s existing real estate portfolio. The rollout will follow priorities and timelines agreed by both parties.
Under the partnership, fibre-optic infrastructure will also be integrated into future SIC housing projects from the design stage. CAMTEL will support SIC with the design, deployment, commissioning and operation of the required infrastructure.
Residents in fibre-connected SIC housing estates will have access to CAMTEL services, including Very High Speed Internet, IP telephony, television and other value-added digital services. The connectivity is expected to support teleworking, online learning, digital administrative services and other everyday online activities.
The partnership also provides preferential pricing for SIC residents, with an access fee of FCFA 25,000 including VAT and a monthly subscription fee of FCFA 15,000 including VAT.
For future housing developments, CAMTEL and SIC intend to ensure buildings are pre-wired and equipped to accommodate fibre connectivity from the design stage, reducing the need for major infrastructure work after construction.
CAMTEL’s Director General said the partnership would translate the company’s digital inclusion efforts directly into housing and households, emphasising that digital inclusion must be built “at the threshold of each household.”
Through the agreement, CAMTEL is expanding its efforts to make high-speed connectivity more accessible while embedding digital infrastructure into Cameroon’s residential developments.
