Kenya’s Buuri Constituency Establishes Seven Digital Hubs Across Five Wards
The initiative supports Kenya’s broader ambition to build an inclusive digital economy by bringing digital infrastructure and opportunities closer to communities.
Buuri Constituency in Kenya has established seven digital hubs across its five wards, exceeding the target of setting up at least one hub in every ward to expand access to digital services and opportunities.
Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, Principal Secretary in Kenya’s State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, announced the achievement while congratulating Buuri Member of Parliament Rindikiri Mugambi for completing and exceeding the target.
The digital hubs are located in Ontulili, Timau, Kisima, Kibirichia, Kiirua and Tutua. An additional hub has also been established at Kiirua Technical Training Institute under a programme aimed at equipping technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions with digital hubs.
According to Tanui, the facilities are intended to equip young people and other residents with digital skills while improving access to online work, entrepreneurship opportunities and government services.
The initiative supports Kenya’s broader ambition to build an inclusive digital economy by bringing digital infrastructure and opportunities closer to communities.
Tanui praised Mugambi and the partners involved in the programme, describing Buuri as an example for other constituencies across Kenya to follow.
