Discussions centred on finalising the programme’s implementation agreements following feedback from Kenya’s National Treasury. The parties also addressed unresolved issues relating to tax exemptions intended to support effective programme implementation.

Kenya and Germany are working to advance digital transformation through the Digital Transformation Centre II (DTC II) programme, with discussions focusing on implementation agreements and outstanding tax exemption matters.

Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, Principal Secretary in Kenya’s State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, held a meeting with a delegation from the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, led by Dr. Christoph Zipfel, Programme Director for Sustainable Economic Development, and Sylvia Lautenbach.

The meeting also formally introduced Lautenbach as the new Programme Director and Acting Programme Manager for the DTC II programme.

Discussions centred on finalising the programme’s implementation agreements following feedback from Kenya’s National Treasury. The parties also addressed unresolved issues relating to tax exemptions intended to support effective programme implementation.

The engagement forms part of broader Kenya–Germany cooperation aimed at advancing digital transformation, strengthening institutional capacity and creating an enabling environment for innovation and inclusive economic growth.

Tanui emphasised the importance of translating international partnerships into effective implementation and tangible outcomes for Kenya’s digital economy.
