Speaking at the meeting, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, stressed that Nigeria’s digital policies are designed to safeguard national interests while creating an enabling environment for innovation, investment and sustainable economic growth.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  on Tuesday hosted a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce , led by representatives of its U.S.-Africa Business Center, together with leading global technology and financial services companies. The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration in Nigeria’s digital economy.

The meeting brought together representatives of Microsoft, Citi Bank, Cavista Holdings, Flutterwave, Tolaram Group, the American Business Council and the U.S. Embassy. Discussions centred on digital transformation, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data governance, digital sovereignty and investment in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.

Speaking at the meeting, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, stressed that Nigeria’s digital policies are designed to safeguard national interests while creating an enabling environment for innovation, investment and sustainable economic growth. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to digital sovereignty, stronger local infrastructure, domestic capacity building, greater resilience, and interoperability to prevent vendor lock-in.

The DG also underscored the importance of public-private collaboration in developing Nigeria’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. He explained that clear policy frameworks and data classification would help attract infrastructure investment, expand local opportunities and position Nigeria as a digital hub for West and Central Africa.

Both parties expressed a shared commitment to sustained dialogue and closer collaboration towards a secure, competitive and predictable digital regulatory environment that supports business growth, job creation, skills development and cross-border investment.
